Hella Basque delights with her Aita stories
September 20, 2014
Anne Marie is the author of the blog HellaBasque and she delights us and makes us laugh with stories about her Aita.
Her latest post is about how her Aita does all these helpful house projects for her, which she admits is “super sweet.” But at the same, he drives her crazy, because he goes overboard and takes over her house, doing the painting and every other handyman job she needs done. In fact, Euskal Kazeta thinks Aita is Basque Superman, based on the long list of projects he gets done in one day.
“After calming down a little, I tried to express my frustration to Aita in a way he could understand: How does he expect me to be a self-reliant adult if he comes in and does everything for me?” she writes. “He loves to complain about how my sister and I know nothing about gardening and fixing toilets, but did he ever teach us these things?”
“Aita saw my point. Maybe a little too well… He got all excited at the idea that I wanted to learn everything he knows. So he’s coming over this weekend for us to bleach my front steps together. Yippee! Be careful what you wish for, right?”
Oh Anne Marie, so true. But oh so funny.

In my heart of hearts, I’m not certain that it’s necessary to know how to fix a toilet. I’m so tidy and coooool that I only use a toilet every 7-9 months anyways…yup…that’s me…MR. TIDY BOWL! HOORAY!
