Jaialdi 2010 Women’s Pilota

It was a battle of South America Wednesday July 28 as FEVA Argentina squared off against Venezuela in the semifinal game of the World Pilota Council championships at the Boise fronton.

The two teams fought a classic paleta goma match on the historic court to determine who would face a tough and unbeaten Euskadi squad in the final on Friday July 30. In the end, FEVA players Maria Les Garcia Calderon and Trina Podversich came out on top 30-14.

Aenhoa Bacaicoa and Estibaletz Barreda of Venezuela played hard and kept the match interesting for the morning crowd that had gathered at the fronton on Boise’s Basque Block.

Evening games were scheduled to begin 8 p.m. with NABO 1 from Boise against NABO 2 from Bakersfield. The two teams will battle for 5th and 6th place. At 9 p.m, Venezuela will meet Australia for 3rd and 4th place.

NABO begins its men’s and women’s championships Thursday July 29 at the fronton. Follow Euskal Kazeta for all the action.
