Tickets go on sale this week for events at Jaialdi 2025, the massive Basque festival that will be held from July 29 to August 3 in Boise, Idaho.
Tens of thousands of people are expected to descend on Boise’s outdoor Basque Block and nearby venues for lively celebrations of all things Basque. There’s no charge to enjoy concerts, dance performances and other activities at the Basque Block, but you will need to buy tickets for these events:
Sports Night will be held at the Idaho Central Arena in downtown Boise at 7 p.m. on Thursday, July 31. This popular event features traditional sporting competitions by Basque athletes. These feats of strength and endurance, including weightlifting, wood chopping and wagon lifting, developed from work on the farm and are called Herri Kirolak in the Basque language of Euskera.

This will be the first Jaialdi festival since 2015. The mega-celebration of Basque culture, which began in 1987, was held every five years. But the event was cancelled in 2020 because of the Covid pandemic. Jaialdi typically attracts 30,000 to 40,000 people from around the world.
Boise area hotels book up fast, and if you haven’t reserved a room, you should do so as soon as possible. Jaialdi organizers have worked with local hotels to offer discounted room rates, as well as special rates for airfare and travel from the Basque Country.
